Error: 1058
I have got a problem with automatic update which is disabled. When I go to turn on Automatic Updates I get the error message 1058: The service cannot be started either because it is not enabled or has no enable devices associated with it. I followed all of microsoft's steps and it still doesn't work. I am also getting alot of popups to random virus scanners and advertising stuff. I tried all the thing that was told to do and run a VBscript to turn it on too, but it again awent OFF. if you can help me to sort it out whould be very thankfull

Re: Error: 1058
welcome to TSF
the random pop-ups are not a good sign. sometimes they are built into the web page you're visiting, most of the time it means you're infected. there are several sticky's at the top of each page in the security center. they've been written for your benefit. take advantage of them. here's a couple of links that pertain to your problem.
