Okay so I need a free antivirus that will get me rid of those nasty Trojan horses.

So yeah, I want the best free antivirus possible, I don't have any virus presently but I don't want to have any, my antivirus has just expired, had it free for a year, now the year is over.
What do you guys recommend?

I have used AVG Free for about 3 years but recently switched to Avast. AVG is a little slow, depending on how much you need to scan but it offers good protection. I have been very happy with Avast, but have only been using it for a couple of weeks.

To get Expert Help with malware removal:

I recommend that you read this article… ( "Simply, click on the links to be re-directed.)

"Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? - First Steps";
http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html

Please follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, in the
HiJackThis Log Help Forum.
http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...this-log-help/

Please ensure that you create a new thread in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum;
not back here in this one.

When carrying out The 5 Steps,
http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html

if you cannot complete any of them for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed.
However,it is extremely important to make mention of the fact that you could not complete any of the steps in your post to HiJackThis Log Help Forum.
http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...this-log-help/

where an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds.

Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can. .

Hi Viau !

I'll move you to the general security section where you'll have better help with this question.

tizzyloucat and Crespo have already mentioned the 3 free antiviruses we usually advise here at TSF (Avira Antivir, AVG and Avast). I personnaly use Avira Antivir, it's very light on ressources and has never failed me. I installed Avast on my mom's computer because the messages it shows when it finds a virus are a little more user-friendly. I for myself will stick with Avira. On my own computer it detected a virus on an usb flash drive that hadn't been found by avast on another computer. Avira has one downside : it displays a nasty nag screen asking you to buy some non-free products each time it updates its virus definitions.

@ ThorXP : the OP mentioned in his first post that he didn't had any viruses, he's only asking advices about what antivirus is best.
