Avast and AVG at the same time
Your help would be most appreciated. Is it ok to have both Avast (free)and AVG (free) on the PC at the same time, provided the one which is not in use, is disabled. nor69

Re: Avast and AVG at the same time
Theoretically, it should be OK as long as one is disabled. However, based on my personal experience, for various reasons, I would recommend that you remove/uninstall the one you're not using via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.

Re: Avast and AVG at the same time
From what I've seen, running two AV programs simultaneously will completely kill performance. My friend had Norton AV and AVG running at the same time, and his machine was so slow it took almost 10 minutes to boot up because both programs would scan all the executables that his computer was trying to start.

Re: Avast and AVG at the same time
I think even that could potentially cause conflicts. I would advise against it, because it's not only completely pointless, but also has a cost in system resource overhead.

Re: Avast and AVG at the same time
Agreed. That's why I said "I would recommend that you remove/uninstall the one you're not using via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel."
