Is this too much spyware?

I have been using AVG8 and Comodo and have been happy with them, but I also have the following and I am wondering if I need them all or is it overkill and slowing down my computer. I am not a computer expert by any means so I would appreciate your advice.

AVG8
Comodo
and
Spyware Doctor
Spyware Guard
Spybot SD
Spyware Blaster

thank you kindly

Re: Is this too much spyware?

You should only have one virus and spyware removal software on your computer. The problem you will run into is that the programs will fight with one and other to be the dominate program and they won't pay attention to the viruses or spyware and will result in tons of spyware and headaches.

Re: Is this too much spyware?

My System

Re: Is this too much spyware?

Keep SpyBot and enable its background monitor TeaTimer. If you go to Mode > Advanced, it adds some more features to the menu on the left. The Tools menu is especially useful.

SpwareBlaster is also worth keeping as it doesn't run in the background and only needs to be updated every couple of weeks. It makes changes to the registry and optimizes your browser protection.

So why should you use SpywareBlaster?

There are several important reasons:

1.) Most anti-spyware programs focus on removal, which can leaves your computer at risk until you decide to run a scan.

SpywareBlaster focuses on prevention - preventing spyware and other potentially unwanted software from installing in the first place, helping keep your system and your privacy safe and secure.

2.) Many protection programs are "resident", and must remain running in the background to keep your system protected.

SpywareBlaster does not need to remain running in the background to enable protection, which means there are no extra processes running and using up your computer's memory and processor.

3.) Some programs try to do everything, and may end up doing nothing well. Plus, there is the potential for a vulnerability that affects an "all in one" product to compromise your entire defenses.

Users and experts agree - it's best to have layered security. And SpywareBlaster provides a powerful layer of protection against spyware and other potentially unwanted software. It is proven and trusted.
Spyware Doctor looks like another good one, although I haven't used it. The OnGuard feature is similar to SpyBot's TeaTimer and can be disabled if required to prevent slowdown.

SpywareGuard is not needed if you use all the above. Their website says "If you are worried about potential compatibility issues with SpywareGuard, we recommend you download SpywareBlaster instead."

Re: Is this too much spyware?

also unlike AVG 7.5 AVG 8 has AVG antispyware built into it personally i have three programs i have AVG8 spybot and AdAware (only spybots main program not the extras) and i have not had any compatibility issues and no infections but everyone usually has there own preferance it comes down to what works for you and keeps you safe hope this helps :)
