Question SmitFruadFix need help

For some reason when i double click SmitFraudFix, it quickly flashes the command prompt, and then doesn't open. It does this in both safe and normal mode...

What is wrong? This is the exact thing i need to get rid of my annoying fake security popup...

Hi

Are you clicking on the exe file itself? Perhaps it was a bad download - try a fresh download. What kind of pop ups do you have? You should be aware that these infections rarely travel alone.

Re: SmitFruadFix need help

Thank you for responding. Yes it is a yellow diamond thing, i clicked on that and then it made a folder. In the folder it looks like it is all the components to the exe. I looked up on google for a while and i saw that you had to click the SmitFraudFix.cmd but that didn't work, and actually for ALL of them it flashed the command prompt (Except for the things like reboot.exe and restart .exe).

I have downloaded it again a bunch of times as i was searching google but it seemed to to the same thing.

The pop up is something saying (Not exact) Warning. Your C:\WINDOWS files are corrupt. This could cause damage. Then it asks if i want to download a virus protection, which i found out makes you pay for it after... So this i mean is like word for word what this "SmitFraud" does. So i really want to get rid of it. Any help?

Re: SmitFruadFix need help

Yep, that sounds like SF - but as I said, it usually comes with other friends...

Please start here and follow the instructions.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...sting-log.html

If you cannot complete any of the Steps, simply move on to the next one - remember to let the Analyst know about this when you post your logs.

Do not post your logs back in this thread - follow the guidance in the above link!

Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply - it may take a few days.

Re: SmitFruadFix need help

I already did that, and posted a log in the HiJackThis help forum, but no one has replied. I am aware that it probably came with other viruses, but is there any way i can make this SmitFraudFix work? Because the first thing i want to do is get rid of this one because i cant access anything inside My Computer without this popup comming up. Every folder i click that isnt on my desktop causes this popup to popup... its beyond annoying.

Re: SmitFruadFix need help

Now that you've posted your log, please be patient. We have more users needing help than there are analysts. Better not to try anything yourself until you receive help.

Re: SmitFruadFix need help

It seems you've stopped at Step 2.

Be sure to continue all the way to Step 5, and post the logs from Deckard's System Scanner.

Also, if the Panda log is too large to attach, zip it up first, then try to attach it. We need to see the entire log.
