Idea Need help with AVG 8.0

I am trying to install 8.0 and it encounter an error with 7.5. I tried uninstalling 7.5. However, it never uninstalled it and I cannot load up 8.0 because of the following Error: Action failed for file _AVG7_avgtdi.sys: stopping service....
Service AvgTdi failed to progress during stopping at checpoint 0 (wait hint 10000 ms) in 90015 ms.
I've been reading the net now for hours and nothing seems to work. I tried deleting the program folder. It would not delete because of Log7avg. What next can I do?

Re: Need help with AVG 8.0

Hello tools86, Welcome to TSF!

First of all we need to back date your computer to a time/date before this occurred.

Please do this...
Go Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time > Next > now select one of the bold dates on the calendar at the left to, say, back 3 or 4 days...follow the on-screen prompts.
The computer will automatically reboot.
Once the computer has restarted, and is back at the desktop, it will be blank (without any icons) for a few minutes; this is normal.
By restoring 'back in time' you should now have AVG 7.5 back on the computer.

Please report back when you are at this stage and we will give you further directions to install AVG 8.0 and remove AVG 7.5 without the current conflict you have.

Kind Regards,

Re: Need help with AVG 8.0

I started this installation sometime ago and I still have not been resolved. Restoring it at this time will not help me unless I go 2 plus months back.
What else can I do to remove the 7.5. I've tried cleaning the registry with CCCleaner and then installing 8.0 but to no change in results.

Re: Need help with AVG 8.0

G'Day tools86,

Could you please explain, to me in detail, how you attempted the original uninstallation of AVG™7.5?

How did you download AVG™8.0? (Meaning, did you use the 'Open' or 'Run' options, or did you 'Save' it to your Desktop.)

Once I have this information, I will endeavour to find a solution for you.

Kind Regards,
