Ca antispam freezes Outlook Express

I have an ACER Power HF system with WinXP Pro , Service Pack 3 ( problem pre-exists installation of Service Pack 3) 3GHZ CPU 3GHz,.99GB Ram

I am using CA antispan that comes with Time Warner internet access, although I also have a copy I purchased.

CA antispam worked fine until several weeks ago I had to download a new version of CA security Suite because of a security issue that CA had discovered in it's old version.

Since then the antispam has been more trouble than it is worth, taking a long time to open and then freezing outlook express. Other applications often froze as well.

After re-instaling the new Security Suite several times, I gave up on CA anti-spam and now my system works infinitely better.

I used the Mail rules as well as my server's rules to automatically delete files from the server. The trouble is these rules are not working and the files with the selcted words keep on downloading, and it is time consuming to delete all the spam, although less time consuming than when the CA anti spam was installed.

CA anti-spyware does not install at all since I downloaded Window 's Defender, but that is not a major concern since I also have Spyware Doctor.

I am looking for help with either how to get CA antispam functioning again or else how to get my mail rules to function so that I am not constantly having to deletet spam from my computer.
