Hi, my NIS2007 installed in a Windows XP Pro SP2 PC is able to update everything except this update which fails:
"Symantec Security Software" that includes these two components: Symantec Known Application System (552.3kb) White List (194.2kb) The following error is displayed after the LiveUpdate session: "LU1821: This update failed because it tried to overwrite a file that was in use. Close all of your Symantec applications and run LiveUpdate again." I went thru the steps outlined in the link below to repair LiveUpdate without success (the above symptom repeats): http://service1.symantec.com/Support...nsf&view=docid Any ideas to fix this? Thanks |

Re: Norton Internet Security 2007 Liveupdate problem
Your link was broken and it didn't translate well. I get a 404 error.
Have you also tried this: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...5?OpenDocument Not sure if it would be what you want, but you could try downloading the updates manually. http://securityresponse.symantec.com...es/US-N95.html |

The other link you mention I also tried unsuccessfully. Regarding downloading the virus definitions manually there's no need. As I mentioned when I opened the thread ALL updates download and install successfully through LiveUpdate except the two Software udpates mentioned also in my post which as said generate the LU1821 error. |

Re: Norton Internet Security 2007 Liveupdate problem
I have the same issue with Norton 2008, called Norton Antivirus 11. It's a new laptop that I'm trying to install the updates for Norton onto. It appears that the thread checker is not updating. I manually installed the updates for the virus definitions, but I can't get everything going smoothly. I've been reading a bunch of posts tonight and finding a lot of problems with Norton products. I have to say it's running fine on a bunch of machines I look after, this is the first real problem I've had and it's on a new HP Laptop, with Vista.
I'm tempted to uninstall the Norton and get one of e the free programs they rave about in this site. Sorry I can't help you!! I'll watch to see if anything comes your way, in terms of help. |

Re: Norton Internet Security 2007 Liveupdate problem
Yes, one solution is uninstalling/reinstalling the product, or even worse, clean installing XP again. But before trying those I'd rather wait for a less radical approach. So far have been unable to find a solution, will post if I find anything.Thanks.
