Re: win 453 virus

Welcome to TSF....

To get Expert Help with malware removal:

Please read this sticky: If you think your computer is infected

If you cannot complete any of the 5 steps for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed, and post your logs in The HJT Help Forum; where an Analyst will assist you. However, it is very important to make mention of any of the steps that you were not able to complete.

Re: win 453 virus

I don't think this is a malware issue.

@kbgphilly -

Do you have Defender Pro 5 in 1 installed?

This is a known issue with this software. The best way I've seen to solve the issue is to uninstall the software, and use some more well known applications from the lists on this page:

PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need?

Edit:

There is a proposed workaround on this page which users say works.

http://www.itsecurity.com/expert/20080103/program-453/

It involved a registry fix. Before attempting any registry fix, BACK IT UP.

It's not a solution, in that it does not address the issue in the application, which if you look around has been ongoing for more than a year.

There is another proposed solution on this page:

http://www.moonlightsales.com/DPFixWin453.htm

Note:

I have not tried any of these workarounds/solutions, and do not use this application.

Is there also any known errors with the defender pro 15 in 1? by any chance? i am getting the error 453 but my mother in law is not and we both have the dp 15-in-1.

Re: win 453 message at shutdown

Yes, I believe so. The same procedures should apply...first one I'd pick is uninstalling it, and either getting a fresh installer file, or go in another direction from the link provided above.

Re: win 453 message at shutdown

Glad it worked for you...be sure to install new protections on the machine.

PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need?

I find Avira AntiVir to be the least resource intensive of the freeware AntiVirus available.
