Viewpoint 'virus' according to Paretologic!?
Help,
Stupidly, I clicked onto a fraudulent link thinking it was my internet banking account. My bank froze my internet account until I ran the paretologic scan amongst other ones. I ran the scan Pareto logic anti-virus plus scan. It came up that there was a threat from a piece of software from viewpoint (with a threat level of let's say 5/10, which was in the middle and came up with an orange threat colour). I ran the AVG and Lavasoft virus scans (just to double check) and they did not inform me of any such threat after running their virus scan. After reading a few articles on the net, it seems as if viewpoint is not actually a virus but a piece of multimedia software. And of course I have to pay $40 dollars to paretologic to get rid of this 'virus'. I wanted to know what people think about this and how should I proceed? Regards, Cheekyzinho |

Re: Viewpoint 'virus' according to Paretologic!?
Hi,
Welcome to TSF. ![]() I don't know about Paretologic antivirus software, but their XoftSpy used to be a rogue program with a lot of false positives. I assume you already have an antivirus application installed on your system anyway. Viewpoint is considered foistware. If you want to remove Viewpoint, you can download Viewpoint Killer
