Do i really need a paid version

Currently i have a laptop with AVG free and Comodo free. My question is do i really need a paid version of AV and firewall regardless of which it is. My plan is to buy trend micro int security but currently these two are serving me fine

I just watched what i download and which website i surf couple with the free security programs. Is that enough

Sure - the free versions usually don't include support and sometimes update a day after the paid versions, but other than that they are pretty much the same.

But do the free version get the same updates as the paid version, perhaps it is just a day or 2 late. That i dun mind, but as long i get the same updates.

Also which one do you recommend, i like AVG for the daily updates. So if i get AVG paid, it comes with the firewall but i like comodo firewall. Trend micro is also on my list

trend micro is not a bad choice. Its one of my favorites. However, theres nothing wrong with using the free versions.

I use AVG and it does update daily. Comodo gets good reviews so if you use AVG and Comodo that would be fine.

Re: Do i really need a paid version

I have NIS 2008, expensive heavy software just for peace of mind, seeing that green tick mark! But I use Comodo in paranoid mode when dealing with suspicious files I download off P2P and also those times when the greedy folks at Norton suddenly turn off protection when they think you haven't paid the piper.....
(Also it took me a good week to get NIS up and running and innumerable sessions with Help & Support)
