Hi is there a trojan/adaware/virus that can change the way your mouse reacts, sometimes when i click or double click nothing happens, I have to sometimes click ten or more times to open anything.
I have tried swapping ports from usb to the other used port for mouse and keyboard. I have run many checks but nothing to suspicious. can there be something in my registry that can hide and watch, its like when I am searching the internet or even through desktop, that something is slowing down the task, but sometimes it will click straight away. I have done all the reistall of drivers for the mouse and checked the click open folder sequance. Any ideas thanks. ![]() |

Re: mouse problem
How old is your mouse? It may just be dying.

it isnt that old it is a microsoft intel mouse, it was quite dear when i bought it, i have tried other mouses and they seem to react the same.
I also have noticed that when opening things like tech support, it is very slow, things open very slow, like graphics, i have a x800 agp radeon graphics card, i just cant pin point the problem, i put a disc in the dvd drive, to look at some photos, they took ages to appear, one by one ? things to to freeze and i have to wait ages, if not restart the computer, i wonder if something else is on its way out ? I have just formatted my computer so things should be quicker, but there not, I have checked all drivers etc, I used to be able to go on the internet and open one window, and then open another, but the pc seems to be struggleing with everything, i have checked the heat on the cpu that seems fine, just dont now what to look for next ? ![]() ![]() |

Re: mouse problem
You might like to follow the instructions here to eliminate the possibility of infection:
If you think your computer is infected.... If you cannot complete any of the 5 steps for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed, and post your logs in The HJT Help Forum; where an Analyst will assist you. However, it is very important to make mention of any of the steps that you were not able to complete. After you’ve posted your logs, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are very busy.

In the order of things for your CPU to do, the mouse is pretty low on the list of priorities. Having too much going on in the background can cause your mouse to hesitate or even seem to go to sleep.
You first need to go into MSCONFIG and the Startup tab....and un-check all those updaters, reminders and anything else you don't absolutely need to have running all the time in the background. I would also suspect either a Virus, Trojan, Worm or spyware running in the background. Try running in SAFE mode for a while and use your mouse to see if it's still slow. Maybe play some solitaire or something to exercise the mouse. Even the most expensive MS Mice go bad just like the cheap generics. I gave up buying expensive mice a long time ago. A six dollar mouse will work just as well. DO, stay with the Optical mice. They are much faster than the old clunky ball type mouse. Also, a PS2 mouse plugs into a dedicated mouse port. So, response is pretty fast. A USB mouse however, shares time and access with other USB devices and may not be as fast or responsive. I really hate the new PC's that have no PS2 mouse port. ![]() For my money, its a step in the wrong direction. ![]() That's almost as bad as removing the Floppy Drives. ![]() Good Luck, Shadow ![]()

Re: mouse problem
hi thanks for the responce, I bought a new mouse and it seems to work fine now, I only doubted the mouse being faulty because I have had a expensive microsoft mouse that went wrong and soon after a ball mouse went wrong, maybe Im just unlucky, this £5.00 mouse seems to be working fine now, theres your luck all that time i have been looking for problems with the pc and it was the mouse again.
Didnt realise mouses went wrong that often. live and learn. Thanks |
