Also - how do I FINALLY get rid of ALL of McAfee?

Another question, sorry.

My Dell Inspiron came preinstalled with McAfee. I prefer AVG professional so I deleted it.

That is....as much as I could. It's impossible to get rid of this McAfee s****r. A couple of weeks ago, I paid $50,00 on a computer helpline and the tech guy went to majorgeeks.com and dowloaded some kind of mcafee removal took. And run it. I saw it. I checked it, it was all gone.

So you'd think there be no trace of it left, right ?

If only! Just now, to my intense surprise, when looking in System Config Utility which programs run on start up, I saw FIVE programs which are associated with McAfee. But I don't know whether these programs share something with other programs I DO want to run so I left them ....ready to load again ...over and over and over.

Could anyone please tell me whether I can safely get rid of them once and for all or whether I should leave them alone

1) oascInt
2) MSKDetct
3) MSKAgent
4) Mpf Tray
5) McUpdate

All, bar one, of the above start up items have the "comand" "C:\PROGRA~1\McAfe...., and "location" is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft Windows\ Current Version

Do I need this stuff?

Re: Also - how do I FINALLY get rid of ALL of McAfee?

Thank you, tetonbob.

But before I uninstall them.....would you know whether these McAfee programs share their....whatever... with any other programs I'm running.? And whose functioning will be impaired if I delete the McAfee?
