MonaRonaDona virus

What a pain this bugger is! I figured out that I got it when trying to get Ccleaner (a legitimate product). I'm not sure how, but I got diverted to a website that sold a different registry cleaner. The virus presented a window that said "Welcome to MonaRonaDona. I am a Virus & I am here to wreck your PC. If you observe strange behaviour with your PC..." It goes on to say that it is part of a Human rights protest.

The only thing I've figured out that helps is the simple fact that it is user-specific. You can still log off. Create a new user to log on as and you apparently bypass the virus. Just make sure that your files from the infected user account is public so you can get to them as the new user. I've been running fine for over a day without any problem with a new user account. I'm sure the "cure" will be found but, in the mean-time, this works.

BEWARE of sites that claim to have the solution to the virus. There are a lot of fakes that will sell a solution for $39.

IF your computer is running Windows XP and you do NOT have any Services Packs please install SP1. If you HAVE Service Pack 1 please do NOT install Service Pack 2 as this can create internet connection problems, if you are not stable and clean of any infections
