Lingering Effects of Malware

So I ran Ad-Aware 2007 (downloaded last night and kept running scans all night) Also a copy of Symantec Corporate edition that my school offers was downloaded yesterday and run a good 4 or 5 times (about after the 3rd it stopped finding stuff). I can now access My Computer and the Control Panel, the My Computer icon though is a Big "X" and there are thousands of files called "POS103AB" and such, I deleted manually about 5,000 of them, and It looks like there are about 4 times that still in the C Drive. Also at boot, the computer keeps giving me errors for the virus that was in the registry. I think its a .dll file from Vundo. Is there anyway to get rid of all of this? I can't System Restore from when I boot, and all of my system restore points are gone. Is there anything I can do to get the computer back to normal? After all of this virus related stuff is gone, I need to disk clean-up and defragment, then make a profile for my brother that can't download anything, or turn off my security software, and password protect my admin account. Then I can make a new restore point.
Thanks for the help, I'll most likely be 40 miles away from my computer, and I'll be on my laptop in class.

Re: Lingering Effects of Malware

Hi

There will likely be remnants on your system (or worse). I would suggest you start here and follow the instructions.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...sting-log.html

If you cannot complete any of the Steps, simply move on to the next one - remember to let the Analyst know about this when you post your logs.

Do not post your logs back in this thread - follow the guidance in the above link!

Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply.
