Confused Bizzare double install error - Norton

I have Norton antivirus 2006, and it had worked well so far. However, I somehow installed a trial version of Norton 2007 last month, and it has expired.
This, apparently, has disabled my auto-protect. I seriously get more bulk e-mail than before. Worst part is, I cannot find the 2007 version to uninstall it! is an uninstall neccicary, or can less extreme steps be taken? It's an 0x000003EE install error, and it refuses to be installed.

Re: Bizzare double install error - Norton

Hi Tortan,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your post. The easiest way to resolve this problem and also make sure you are protected is to use the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall all Norton products, and to then reinstall Norton AntiVirus 2006. Please follow the steps below.

1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool:

Norton Removal Tool and Instructions

2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well.

3. Make sure that your internet connection is working properly, and then reinstall Norton AntiVirus 2006. Towards the end of the installation process, the LiveUpdate feature will automatically run and download and install updates to both the program files and definition files.

4. When the installation is complete, please manually run LiveUpdate to make sure that all of the updates are downloaded and applied. When this is complete, close the LiveUpdate window by clicking the "Finish" button. You may then be prompted to restart your computer.

5. Log back into Windows and then manually run LiveUpdate again.

Next, please run a Full System Scan on your computer.

Let me know if this resolves your issue.

Thank you,
Mike
