deleting a Trojan
A buddy at work has been having problems with a trojan virus. He has a Dell desk top, not sure what model it is. He does not have any anti-virus programs installed. Could he do a Dell factory image restore to get rid of it and restore the computer back to factory condition? Thanks for the help.

Yes, invoking the Recovery partition should reset the machine back to factory condition, unless the company has done some customization.
If the machine is seriously bogged down, and has had no protection, that might be for the best. Back up any valued data (docs, pics, etc) before performing the recovery, as it will be lost.
