Re: Installing expired copy of Norton System Works 2006
Hi luco, Welcome to TSF!
![]() The fact that the program has expired will render it virtually useless and ineffective. You have a couple of alternatives here... 1: Contact Norton® and purchase a more up-to-date program; or 2: Forget about Norton® entirely, and venture on to a less resource hungry Anti Virus program. There are a number of free anti virus programs available; such as, AVG™ (made by Grisoft); Avast®, and Avira™, to name a few. That's my 5˘ worth of advice. Kind Regards,

Re: Installing expired copy of Norton System Works 2006
In the system works program, there are some things in there that will work just fine and those will be the ones that don't require updates to keep your computer safe. The things like the anti-virus program in there will be just worthless.
That being said, I was a real fan of the program you are using for a long time up until about a year ago, but not for the anti-virus part. I liked some of the other features, but they lure you into a false sense of fixing things. Sure, you can clean some things up, but what it cleans up doesn't really have much risidual value. That program is very bloated and can actually slow you down quite a bit. Therefore, I recommend that you take the advice given to you by chauffeur2 (recommendation #2) and get rid of that program and go with the AVG free anti-virus and the Zone Alarm free firewall. You will be faster, cleaner, and happy with the change.
