A week ago i suddenly got a series of popups and a red flashing cross appear in the system tray that told me i had spyware on the computer. There were also 3 new icons on the desktop, which were not applications as they lead you to believe by using generic security-style icons, but actually links to malicious websites.
I read a thread posted on this forum about something with exactly the same spyware and followed the instructions, which included using smifraudfix, combofix, hijackthis and cleanup452. After following the instructions everything seemed to have worked; there werent any popups, the 3 icons had disappeared and the computer was running faster again. About 5/6 hours later i suddenly got the same popups again and when i looked on the desktop they had come back. I did the removal again and all seemed fine. And then it 5/6 hours later it happened again. It keeps happening every few hours despite removing the spyware. Does anyone know of any way to completely remove the spyware? Thanks |

Re: SPYWARE: Error cleaner, Privacy protector, Spyware protection icons & popups
Sounds like something is regenerating the malware.
Please start here and follow the instructions. http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...sting-log.html If you cannot complete any of the Steps, simply move on to the next one - remember to let the Analyst know about this when you post your logs. Do not post your logs back in this thread - follow the guidance in the above link! Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply.
