Ad-Aware not updating

for some reason when i open ad aware it says my updating is 18 days old? When i try updating it, it says no updates available. I have file version 6.2.0.236? What could be wrong here, i have no firewall or scanner running?
thanks for your time.

Re: Ad-Aware not updating

Same here. It does this sometimes and is usually back to normal after a few hours. The longest I've had to wait for an update is 3 days and so far it's been 2 days for this one.

Re: Ad-Aware not updating

Are you using Ad-Aware 2007?

Ad-Aware SE is no longer supported via Automatic update.

http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showforum=1

You can still get manual updates for SE from Lavasoft.

http://www.lavasoft.com/support/securitycenter/blog/

Upper right of the page.

Once downloaded, unzip to create defs.ref and copy this into the lavasoft folder under c:\program files, overwriting the existing defs.ref

And, they do have their very own support forum, which is typically very responsive to questions and issues.

no more auto updating, uh oh, thats not to good is it? Is it going downhill? Wondering if i should still keep it?

I tried that update, copied that defs.ref but when i opened adaware it says my definitions are 730486 days old, and when i try to update it says no updates available?

Re: Ad-Aware not updating

Hi grassi -

No, not going downhill, SE has just been phased out.

Ad-Aware SE has been replaced by Ad-Aware 2007. It's supposed to have been rebuilt from the ground up, to better deal with modern threats.

Lavasoft recommends all SE users upgrade to 2007. Public comments are mixed, but most seem positive. Have a look around their dedicated forum.
