[SOLVED] Symantec Mapped Drive Issue
Greetings and Happy Holidays to All -
I'm having what appears to be a common issue regarding Symantec and mapped drives. We're running Symantec 10.1.5.x. Users logging in to our Domain are finding an error message stating that some mapped drives cannot be found or accessed. Some users are able to access the drives anyway, some are not. There appears to be no logic behind who can access the drives and who cannot. According to reports I've found on the web a Live Update from the beginning of December is being blamed. There is no mention of this issue on Symantec's website (how typical...) Microsoft (as well as countless users) are blaming the problem on Symantec as well. The fixes provided by Microsoft do not work. Here is Microsoft's KB article on the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932463 Here is a thread I found regarding the same problem that will shed some light on the subject: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/...how-disco.aspx A reboot *does* temporarily fix the problem, but it returns the following day. I'm posting in hopes that someone has heard something I have not. I have been unable to find a viable solution for this annoyance. Does anyone have any helpful input? Thanks for your time. Re: Symantec Mapped Drive Issue
It appears this issue was addressd by Symantec during Live Updates sometime during the week of January 1 - January 7.
There has been no word from Symantec on either the cause or providing the fix, but that's pretty typical of Symantec. |
