ADS file deletion

Running the erasure software 'Cyberscrub' provides an option to erase alternate data stream files. CyberScrub warns that it will try to save the ADS Main File(s) but does not guarantee it. Are these Main Files essential to the healthy operation of the platform (XP) - can I risk their erasure? If CyberScrub fails to preserve one, some or all of the Main Files, will these be regenerated, if necessary/essential, at the next boot, or could erasure result in a catastrophe? Hoping that someone can shed some light . . .

Re: ADS file deletion

Hi

ADS can be, and is, legit in most cases. Have a look here for further info

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...utorial25.html

I would be tempted to leave well alone. Alternatively use ADSSPY (link in the tutorial) to view the ADS details.

Re: ADS file deletion

Glaswegian,

Thanks for your response. I'd seen the page as it happens, but I'm going to look at the tutorial, as you recommend. Thanks again.
