Spyware locked down in System Restore
Long story short i have spyware, or virus locked down in system restore. I've researched what to do on internet and found at least 5-6 different ways to turn off sys. res From right clicking properties...... using safe mode w/comand prompt.....going into the registry and adding new values(something like that).... nothing works. I'm am always on administrator. Can someone please help with problem. as well, laptop makes funny chirpping noise at times(started when I realized something was wrong).

Re: Spyware locked down in System Restore
If the malware is held in the System Restore points then it is harmless. You can simply turn off system restore and turn it on again to rest it.
To turn off System Restore click Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties. Click the System Restore tab and Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" Click Apply. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this then Click OK.

Re: Spyware locked down in System Restore
Thanks for replying. But, I mentioned above I've already tried that plus 3-4 other methods. The system restore tab on my computer>properties is GONE. We need to go deeper. We need to take the gloves off.

Re: Spyware locked down in System Restore
Try downloading this file and running. Double click to run and hit YES when prompted. It will attempt to undo any restrictions caused by malware that affect system restore. A reboot may be necessary before the changes take effect.
Then follow the advise posted by the poster above. BMR777
