If it's an HP machine, it's related to their recovery partition. Protects it.

G'Day,
RECGUARD.EXE refers to a program that is installed on Hp computers to prevent the accidental removal or corruption of their "precious" Windows® Recovery Partition. Therefore, recguard means Recovery Partition Guard. Hope this answers the query. Kind Regards, EDIT: I just got beaten by Bob.

K thanks i was wondering because it said it was not from the os and i did not install it...lol
BTW can you look at my hijackthis log it has been sitting since like the 20th (bumped around every 5 days) i have been looking around and threads started later have been answered
