Keyloggers and General Security
Hello all you security guru's!
Just wanted some advice on a few things, firstly keyloggers whats the best software to search for them? Currently my security suite contains, Zone Alarm, AVG Free, Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot Search and Destroy. Secondly, when i do a scan with AVG i get 2 error's. - Partition table (MBR) - Reading Error - Boot Sector of disk C:/ - Reading Error Not sure why they receive an error, happens right at the start of the search. Ok next on the agenda is Zone Alarm really that great for a free firewall or is there a better one, (not a resource hog though as i run vista). And lastly does AVG do really thorough scans such as hidden area's, registry etc. The reason for all these questions is because my Internet is acting strange, slow at times and common pages like google etc... say server not found, i had one of my game accounts hacked and just worried something is going on behind the scenes I cant find even after i have checked again and again. Thank you so much!

Re: Keyloggers and General Security
Hi hardware guru
![]() Well anyhow as far as I know, A-squared Free is pretty good against keyloggers, as is Spyware Doctor (there's a free version that actually removes stuff it finds). (http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/; http://pack.google.com/intl/en/insta...on&hl=en&gl=us) As for the AVG errors they are typical, as those areas are locked and used by the Windows system. So far no anti-virus can get past that (they just hide the message). AVG's scanning settings can be changed (I don't know how though), and you should be able to include everything. If you think you might be infected, try doing the five steps to clean up malware: Please follow the instructions here (5 pages) and then post all the requested logs in a new thread here for the security analysts to look at. If you have any trouble running any of the scans, leave them and move onto the next. The security forum is always busy, so please be patient and you will receive a reply as soon as possible. If you go to Thread Tools > Subscribe at the top of your new thread you will receive an email as soon as a reply is posted. Good luck Rebel!
