Attacked by multiple things, help.
Alright, this is my first time getting severely attacked by a virus, spyware, etc. So far, I know I have the Antispy Storm crap on my computer, as well as a few trojans. So far, they have locked me out of my task manager, as well as input their stuff into my system registry so no matter what I find with system scans, it reputs itself onto my computer every time it gets restarted. Since I can't get into task manager I also can't stop the program that is using 100% of my CPU so it slows my system to a crawl to the point of waiting 10-30min for my computer to start up as well as do anything else. The only way I'm typing this is because I booted my computer into safe mode with networking enabled.
I posted my problem here first because I am a rookie at this stuff as well as a fairly new member to this site so I was unsure of what to do. Is this beyond me to fix and I should take it to a specialist to deal with, or can I destroy this crap and get it off my computer with your help? Oh I forgot to mention it also doesn't let me access my internet when I run my computer in normal mode. Last edited by Honnen11; 10-16-2007 at 11:46 AM. |

Re: Attacked by multiple things, help.
If your machine is infected, and it sounds as though it is, using safe mode with networking is not a good choice, as your protection software (Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware) will not be running. This means whatever is already on the system can continue to act freely.
You should use another machine until the base issues are resolved and the infected machine can connect to the internet in normal mode. During this time, keep the infected machine disconnected from the internet completely. Using a clean machine, a friend's, co-worker's internet cafe, public library, etc....and removable media such as USB stick drive or CDR, download this next tool, and carry it to the infected machine. Using the same method, carry back the logs from the infected machine to a clean machine to post in the HijackThis log help forum. Please do this: Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
What DSS will do:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do the same for this next tool: Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop. Double-click smitfraudfix.exe to start the tool. Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter" and a text file will appear which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other option until you are directed to do so! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please be aware that the HJT forum is very busy, and it can take some time to receive a reply.
