[SOLVED] Blank Control Panel/Unable to System Restore
Hello,
For starters, I use Vista O/S. I recently visited the website www.myipodownloads.com and purchased their services. Upon doing so and downloading the software from their website I realized it was not what I thought it was and appears to be a scam site. I subsequently uninstalled the newly acquired software. I have since been made aware of several issues (possibly more that I have not learned as of yet): 1) My control panel is blank. I cannot access it. 2)The 'user control' panel that typically pops up upon startup no longer appears, nor is it accessable. 3) System errors prevent me from doing a system restore to an earlier point. 4) When my system sits idle and would have otherwise normally gone to hibernation, it now goes back to the startup "COMPAQ" and requires a reboot everytime. I've also seen some "memory dump" errors and so forth. Other information: I recently posted a thread regarding this issue, got the 5-step directions and posted a log. But after 3 days still have heard nothing. I've tried searching for other related problems/solutions to no avail. Please help me to get some control of my computer again. Thank you.

Re: Blank Control Panel/Unable to System Restore
Hi and welcome to TSF,
The security team members are not ignoring your post or anything, they are just busy and loaded with logs to look at, as you might've noticed. Anyhow, while you are waiting, you might want to perform the steps again to see if something new comes up. Also, there aren't anything in the guide that has to do with regedit, so you might want to clarify that. I'm not an expert but it's apparent that you have one rouge anti-spyware program on your computer: AdwareAlert. Please remove that and wait patiently for the analysts. Thank you and good luck! |
