Spybot

Until recently, this program opened easily now I sometimes have to double click on the icon twice. Anyone else having this problem? I have the newer version. When it does open, I have no problem updating it or running the scan.

Re: Spybot

Wally, I am getting a very slow opening for Spybot's newest version too. It must be something in the program.

Re: Spybot

Same here. The new version can take up to 30 seconds before the loading bar even appears. I thought it was because I'd enabled the HOSTS feature, which I didn't do on the previous version, but even with this disabled it still loads very slowly. Works fine apart from that.

Re: Spybot

Weird.

Takes mine less than 15 seconds to open completely, and I don't have a speed machine. 1.4 CeleronM, 1.25GB DDR

Edit:

Seems you're not alone folks:

Re: Spybot

Thanks Bob. I've been living with it for the past few weeks and never even thought of looking on their forum or posting here. Doh!

After downloading http://www.safer-networking.org/file...8-79-84-85.zip I unzipped it and copied the 2 files to the existing SpyBot folder and it's back to normal now. Loading time 10 seconds.

Note: Close SpyBot before making any changes. The zip contains 2 files, SpyBotSD and Domains. SpyBotSD goes into the main folder and Domains goes into the Includes folder, both overwriting the existing files. You may need to set your firewall to allow it when this new version is run for the first time. And remember to download any updates.

Re: Spybot

Thanks, it worked for me too.
Pent. D 3ghz, 1g ram, Vista Premium, load time 2 seconds.
Maybe there should be a sticky called "Fix SpyBot GUI slow load time" or something.. just a thought.

Re: Spybot

I have my Spybot fixed as well. Thanks.

I downloaded the zip file and manually put the 2 files in the Main folder and in the Domains/Includes folder. But shouldn't this exe file just do that automatically?
