Outlook 2007 sends more mail than I create

Today, I prepared one email with no cc or bcc. While sending and receiving, I noticed that the send/receive details of progress showed that 3 messages were going out. When finished, my Sent Mail box had only the one message I intended to send.

I'm running Norton 360 with tight firewall and active scan settings, behind a WPA2 router setup. I've run separate full malware scans that found nothing. Is this a security concern I need to drill into or some strange but benign MS Office thing?

Looks like a MS Office thing, but don't take my word for it.
Try " Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? - First Steps"; follow the instructions, post all the requested logs and info.
