My System

[SOLVED] Lots of questions

Do I need more than one security program to protect me?

Say I have kapersky, would I need extra tools for adware/spyware protection?

Can I have spyware/adware/virus without knowing it?

How can I know it?

Re: Lots of questions

You should probably check out one of the pinned forums at the TOP of the General Security forum.

Put just for your ease, here is the link: Pinned Topic of Gen. Security

Re: Lots of questions

Yeah that post covers it best.
You need-
AV (only one)
AS (more than one if possible)
Third party FW (only one) (Both XP and Vista's built-in fw's stink)
Prevention programs (IE-Spyad, SpywareBlaster)

Hello tmsop ,

When it come's down to Firewall and Antivirus you should only have One of each. If you have more than one firewall or antivirus, they will conflict with each other and may cause system instability

Say I have kapersky, would I need extra tools for adware/spyware protection?

In my sig, look at the programs next to "Spyware Protection"

Can I have spyware/adware/virus without knowing it?

You sure can, but usually you will get some symptoms

How can I know it?

If you get strange symptoms happening on your computer
An important thing is to update you AV at least once a day, scan at least once a week. Be careful what sites you visit, avoid P2P programs.

You should also read the link that ricer333 provided. It is full of very useful info.
