Serious spyware problem

as of lately my computer has been running slow, antivirus sometimes toggles on and off, internet connection gets blocked, shortcuts on desktop refuse to refresh, so I use my spybot search&destroy to find out what was causing this problem. it found only 3 things, but I know there is definately something missing.

i use some free online spyware scans and they all found way more than spybot did but they cost money, and it makes me wonder if what was found was authentic or if it's just some marketing gimmick.

so far i rooted out a keylogger program though (or i hope i did..)

any suggestions?

Re: Serious spyware problem

Which online scans did you use, and what infections did they find?

Go to Start > Run > msconfig > Startup tab, and post back with all the entries listed under the Startup Item column, indicating any that don't have a checkmark. Or post a screenshot.

the two that arent shown at bottom is adobe and microsoft office.

i just want to note, right after i made this thread i took the advice of a sticky on here and ran a-squared. it found 100 problems related to mirc and bittorrent downloads. so i might have gotten rid of some stuff thankfully, but comp is still acting a little weird.

Re: Serious spyware problem

Which online scans did you use?

There are some items in your Startup list that can be removed, but I'll leave that to the security team after you've posted your logs.

a-squared is excellent, but it might not have caught everything. Please follow the instructions here (5 pages) and then post all the requested logs in a new thread here for the security analysts to look at. If you have any trouble running any of the scans, leave them and move onto the next.

The security forum is always busy, so please be patient and you will receive a reply as soon as possible. If you go to Thread Tools > Subscribe at the top of your new thread you will receive an email as soon as a reply is posted.
