Comodo AV 2.0 (Beta) any good?

Hi!
I'm now de facto adminstrator of the computers at the relief / development center where I teach (not because I know anything about networks, but because I'm the only one who knows the difference between a firewall and a fire escape). Someone recommended Comodo AV, I think because they like the Firewall and because it's free for commercial use. I can't find much on the web for reviews though. I like the firewall myself, but I have some reservations about the AV. Anyone out there know anything about it? Or can you point me to some good independent reviews? Thanks!

Re: Comodo AV 2.0 (Beta) any good?

I like the Comodo firewall, and continue to use it, but I have reservations about the antivirus. I tried it for a while, but didn't feel it was doing a good job. I can't say that I have proof of this, though. The reviews I read were mixed, but many feel that they made quite an advancement with this version of the antivirus, and it offered complete protection. However, for now I just don't feel like it does as well as my current antivirus, avira.
Also, it seemed to take longer for everything to load when I had both the comdo antivirus and firewall installed (i run off a laptop).

Re: Comodo AV 2.0 (Beta) any good?

At the moment I would not recommend COMODO Antivirus. There are many other AV products out there with far superior detection rates and capabilities. Many of the major and popular brand AV companies provide discounts for non-profit and educational organizations, so if you meet their requirements, contact them to see if you can get in on it. I know there can be some significant budget constraints, so take a look.

Addendum: If you can not find information on the AV company websites, phone or e-mail them. Sometimes either the information is either really deep on the website, or they do not publicly publish the information - either way they can support non-profit and/or educational organizations. I know, for example, Trend Micro has non-profit licensing pricing. Other AV companies may as well.
