Kaspersky 7.0 question

I installed the trial version last week and one thing i don't get is the "Computer protection status" function at the top of the protection page. At the top it reads "Full computer scan has not been performed". Upon initial install this started to run and i was thinking ok it will check everything out to make sure i am throughly clean from the start........10 hours later it had only scanned 100,000 files. I have a sony ar series laptop with vista home premium on it with a 2 GHz processor and 2 GB of ram and i shut it down when not in use. I have since left it on for 2 days straight and it still reads only 183,000 scanned. Is this normal cause i think that is extremly slow or should i try to uninstall and reinstall. I do like the interface and ease of use but i feel uneasy as i am not 100% sure i have a clean machine and won't feel that way until this process is completed. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I uninstalled NIS 2007 with the uninstall tool right before i started using KIS.
