My computer is infected with spyware, is the router the problem?

Hello,

I have the Netgear CG814WG router and I'm getting spyware, the reason why I believe that the problem is my router is because I just reformatted my computer hoping that it would clean the source for this infection but it did not.

I just reformatted my PC and right after that I checked to see if I had no spyware using this software from Lavasoft, and everything was fine I had no more spyware but as soon as I connected my computer to the internet my PC is once again getting infected with spyware.

Is the router the problem? should I get a different router or how can I fix this problem? I talked to my internet provider and they said they can not help me with these sort of thing so I really don't know what to do anymore to try and fix this problem.

I hope someone can help me .

Thanks,
John.

Re: My computer is infected with spyware, is the router the problem?

Hi John, Welcome to TSF!

If you think that you have a spyware/malware problem; then, I recommend that you go here; read and follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, to here. (Click on the coloured links.)

Please create a new thread in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum and not back in this one..

When you are carrying out The 5 Steps, if you cannot complete any of them for whatever reason, just make mention of the fact in your post to The HJT Help Forum; an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds.

Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can.

Good Luck with it.

Kind Regards,
