HP laptop fails to shut down-error messages often

I have an HP Pavilion zv6130 that seems unstable. It gets lots of messages when shutting down from Microsoft about encountering errors and wants me to send reports to them.

I first had problems after a difficult time installing Native Instruments--Akoustik Piano.

Ever since I have had problems with "shut downs" error messages with programs like Avira and Avast virus checkers.

Is there a standard set of tests that I can run this HP through that will help me find the problem?

I brought this message over from another forum.

I have some details about this situation:
After I installed Native Instruments--Akoustik Piano and then installed the update 1.1.2 to it--I started having problems with my HP notebook.

1. Security Center alerted me to having no virus checker despite the fact that I had Avira at that time.
2. Frequent problems with shutting down.
3. Numerous messages from Microsoft about errors they wanted me to report online.
4. Error messages about shutting down or turning on and finding a message about "fatal errors".
5.I switched from Avira to Avast thinking that might help the situation. But it didn't.
6. After installing Avast with all updates and after rebooting I had interference with other programs like AdAware and Spybot. Somehow they became involved without my doing anything except installing Avast.

Hope this gives some clues for you to follow in helping me.

Alright, first off, switching av programs usually doesn't help. If the problems didn't start happening until after you installed that program, then I would lay bets that is your culprit. First try uninstalling the buggy program and see what that does. Then, get something to clean the temp files, like CCleaner(any help with that, just ask) and see what happens.

If any help is incorrect, pleas do not hesitate to correct me. This is how I learn.

I just installed Firefox & Thunderbird. I recall this morning there was an update for my Java and when I installed Firefox it disabled my Java. So that might have been the offending program today.

I'm going to wait a few days and see if issues seem solved.

Last night I did a Properties/Disc clean up. It took a very long time--45 min. plus. Then this morning I checked on how much fragmentation I had--It was @45%. So I'm defragging now. Will keep posting results.

What could be the problem that my laptop fails to unzip and file. I have that update I want to apply to my Native Instruments Akoustik Piano and there is an erro message: unable to read the file.

This is part of my laptop's problem.
