AVG Free Edition 7.5

I have developed a fault on my AVG 7.5 Free edition. I am receiving the message e mail scanner is not functional, personal e mail is not configured. I have tried activating it from the main screen, also I have tried going into properties and using the personal test configuration all to no avail, would it be advisable to uninstall and re- install or is there another way round this? I might add that I check for updates on a daily basis and it is therefore fully up to date. I would appreciate any advice.

I have been having the same problem here with vista but not on any of my XP machines.

This only occurs when I first boot and if I enter the AVG controll panel it will activate. Some times I have to try to activate it twice, have not seen anyone else with this problem and I am debating on reinstalling it

Doby thanks for the reply. I have been using the AVG for well over a year without any problems Since I posted I have tried an uninstall and re- install, the same problem still exists, strange one this.

Wut OS R U running? If XP and the system it's always worked normally on, my instinct would B to uninstall it again, then run a reg cleaner; CCleaner has a decent one, it's the "issues" button on the left of the interface, thought U should first clean up the junk files using their main scan...and I would suggest using more than one pass, CCleaner is configurable in this.

THEN, download a fresh copy, install it an C wut up.

I agee with Ariesjill, that sounds like a registry problem. I had that same problem with AVG 7.5 Free just recently and CCleaner is a good choice.

I know nuthin though I am learnng, but I have good instincts. Sometimes, not always.

Not only do I run AWC which also has a reg cleaner, and CCleaner (and 6 other utilities plus defrag) every time I shut a system down, I also run Uniblue reg thingy....though it does cost money. It also has a REG DEFRAG ELEMENT! I luv it V much.

Adam, with my new Pentium D@3.4 and 2GBs of DDR2 ram...I can do almost anything! Now fair warning: this is commercial software. they suck U in by letting U U run it, it picks up a gazillion bad reg entries and it will only repair lke 3 with the tiral version. But I am not as dumb as I look, and I got right off, this, unlike far 2 many... is real deal. So I bought it and nevah looked back.

I find it most worthy; I think I have had it 4 around 9 mos, and when it expires or wutevah....I plan 2 renew it; in my experience, after running my first 2 utilities which have reg cleaning components, it usually still picks things up the other do not. Plus, if U watch the scan it defines those things. And I have not seen a reg defrag option in anything else....I run that like every 4 days.

this all requires a reboot for the changes to take effect; this is serious software. But....days I run the defrag after running the cleaner, I choose not 2 reboot after the cleaner, then run the defrag and then chose, yes,reboot.

Strange and adorable. They R puppies. But i still wanna know if the new uninstall/install worked without cleaning the reg. Maybe he is exhausted & fell out. Poor guy.
