Anti-virus scheduler

Hi guys(and gals), I noticed that AVG free doesn't allow you to customize a scheduled scan. They have a basic schedule but it doesn't suit my needs,it says that feature is only available in AVG Professional.(I am very meticulous about my security.Does Avira Antivir or Avast! home(free versions) have a fully customizable scheduler? BTW I don't remember who told me about Spyware Doctor Starter Edition, but that is the best spyware program I have found. It found crap that six other programs did not find. Great recommendation!!!.

Hello Adam

Avira Antivir does have a scheduled scan, but you mention "Avg doesn't suit your needs", would you mind saying what they are? to make sure Anti Vir can do what you need.

What I meant by that is I scedule my Spyware doctor to do a intelli-scan(quick scan) at 3:00 A.M. Monday through Saturday, and a full scan on Sundays. I want an anti virus program that will do the same basis, quick scan M-Saturday, and full scan on Sunday at 5:00 A.M.. AVG has a basic that will do it every day and only let me specify what time, not days I can scan. Hope that explains it.

Avira Antivir doesn't have the option to do a 'quick' scan. I dont think it can do what you would like it to do.

Re: Anti-virus scheduler

Alas, Adam is right. I just looked, I have new copy of AVG free in this new system, and with free version, we no longer have the option to schedule auto scans, pls C attached.

But....wild horses could not separate me from AVG free. I scan manually and count my blessings.

I am on my way....as I just said in the otha thread. We R not swans. We R primates. So we R not inherently monogamous, OK?

That's my story and I'm stickin 2 it.

So much 4 the "wild horses"

Forgive me, I can be a little slow, but what do you mean by this?

Re: Anti-virus scheduler

Hello. Again.

I have covered much ground since the above post and need 2 make full report in case it helps others. I also did all this betwen clients, but now finished with those.

1) I uninstalled AVG. Made me little emotional.

2) I got the Comodo anti virus beta....note that word, BETA.

3) It spoke to its sibling firewall and got me HIP stuff and went thru checking my files and like that. I said fine to the changes Venus fly trap in Trend micro anti spy asked me 2 OK.

4) I then could not figure out how to set auto scan, pls C attached. there was no place I could key things in.

5) I then tried to get online using AOL which I use 4 my email via my RCN broadband. It opened and froze/hung. Even task Mgr could not fix this and the not responding AOL. Twice. So I had 2 reboot.

6) Comodo upset aOL and froze it. Also in this warpspeed new system, seemed 2 slow things down! Why? We do not know. But it did, trust me.

7) I also noticed that the Comodo antivirus is around 10 MBs bigger file than AVG. I din like that, OK? AVG is like 33 and this was like 43.

8) I then uninstalled Comodo.

9) On reboot as I expected, I got online immediately/normally.

10) I then got new copy of AVG which I now have.

Wut does this all mean given Adam luvs this Comodo antivirus and had no issues wit it? I do not know. Not even close.

But most betas have bugs....and I think in this, the bugs upset my system....though they may not upset all Obviously. right now, I must be more monogamous re AVG. It is also possible my other orchestrated all of this, OK?

end of report, I am attaching.

Re: Anti-virus scheduler

I'm so sorry, Ariesjill, I haven't had any problems with Comodo Anti-Virus. I'm just lucky, I guess. Again I apologize for the trouble, don't shoot me!!!. I guess people should wait until the final comes out.

Re: Anti-virus scheduler

No! No harm, no foul!!! U have zero 2 apologize 4, Adam, believe me!!!!

I am in no way sorry I tired this; given the quality of their firewall, I had every right to expect excellence! No harm was done, trust me!!!!!

Wut I meant by my usual free assocatin above was one minute I post wild horses could not drag me away from AVG, the next minute I am about to delete it and did and hook up with another! Swans....r inherently monogamous. Many animals R. My take is, while we R all raised to believe in this for us.....truth is, we R not even sure if iti s indigenous to us as a species! I mean, look AROUND, Ok? since we R primates. I don know many primates who R .

We R supposed to try stuff, OK? Software.....get it and test it and have first hand experience. I believe this. U harvest data from the experts, starting with right here....and then you make differential choices...and U always take responsibility 4 those...and it is all good!!!!

Please....this system is only days old and otha day cause it is so fun, I got bios flash from Dell and flashed. I enjoyed it. then people came forth and were like, OMG that was insane! You could have messed suthin up....given, Matt knew it was probably Not necessary and Joseph came forth and basically said I was reckless which, in this, I totally was!

NO YOUR BAD. Pls know this, Adam.

I luv that your Comodo is working and U luv it....how U configured the scan thingy I have no clue.....but enjoy!!!!

That makes me feel better. I felt like I was recommending something bad to a lot of people and was doing harm instead of helping.
