Cannot Find Infected Files?
My boss's computer was recently infected by the Infostealer.phax virus and after I got rid of them, I ran Kaspersky's online scanner to check and this is what it came up with:
C:\Documents and Settings\desk9\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst/Personal Folders/Deleted Items/15 Jan 2006 10:30 from noreply@chase.com.eml/[From "Chase Support" ][Date Sun, 15 Jan 2006 19:25:44 +0900]/html Infected: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Chasfraud.c skipped C:\Documents and Settings\desk9\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst/Personal Folders/Deleted Items/15 Jan 2006 10:30 from noreply@chase.com.eml Infected: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Chasfraud.c skipped C:\Documents and Settings\desk9\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst/Personal Folders/Deleted Items/12 Jan 2006 04:31 from service@paypal.com:PayPal Account Suspens.html Infected: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Paylap.je skipped C:\Documents and Settings\desk9\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst Mail MS Mail: infected - 3 skipped I looked in the folders where they're supposed to be but can't find them. How do I find these files? |

Re: Cannot Find Infected Files?
Try opening Outlook and make sure that there is nothing in the Deleted Items Bin
In order to find these files manually, did you enable the viewing of hidden files and folders? Go to My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab and select Show hidden files and folders. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types. Click OK.
