Microsoft AntiSpyware or Windows Defender

Which do you like better? Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1 or Windows Defender.

I liked Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1, even though it was only a re-branded version of GIANT AntiSpyware. I think Microsoft should take the updates and enhancements of Windows Defender and add them to Microsoft AntiSpyware.

What do you think?

Re: Microsoft AntiSpyware or Windows Defender

The Window Live OneCare software has a better configured version of Windows Defender within it, and is rated very poorly for it's security, since it only caught 18.4% of 18 dangers when tested lately.

So I'm not a fan of either.

I don't like either of them!

That's my personal choice though.

Re: Microsoft AntiSpyware or Windows Defender

I just use McAfee Internet Security (free with comcast and some other ISPs I believe), SiteAdvisor (also free), and common sense. You can never replace that.

Re: Microsoft AntiSpyware or Windows Defender

However Microsoft AntiSpyware was a very good free program. It added options found in paid versions. Partially because when GIANT Company released GIANT AntiSpyware is was a paid program.

FX. It was in March. I'll have to search quite a bit to find it...

Yeah it was from August to March, update 21, 22, 23 and I finally had enough as too many Fx users were having problems with it, including system hangs, slow searches, and when I used the perl scripts for memory leak testing of update 24, it was very inconsistent in throwing the similar errors again.

It's also listed here in general: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problemati...ee_SiteAdvisor

Never had the time or OS spare availability to test the newer builds, although I'll be trying update 26.3 this following week.

If it has no problem on your system, then carry on using it by all means.

That's very good aswell. In my experience, it's better than Site Advisor although premature yet. Site Advisor utilizes some fairly inaccurate methodologies which create "false positives". Such as the screenshot attached below for techsupportforum.com analysis information.

I use TrendProtect on another XP SP2 system of mine, it features better link scanning and is more informative overall.
