Problem receiving Outlook email w/AVG & PC Tools, Windows Def.
Okay,
So the other night forwhatever reason I went into either AVG or PC Tools and adjusted something for the email and/or secuity content. I didn't have an email protector os some junk, so I went and changed one of the settings. Well, after that, Outlook wouldn't download any incoming messages. I tried to go back over the settings and change options back, but no luck. Even when I close down and shut off AVG & PC Powertools, Outlook still won't download the emails into the email client. Any help? Also any suggestions for additional protection? At the moment I have Free AVG, PC Tools Firewall Plus, Windows Defender and Shredder. I think that covers everything that was listed on one of the main threads for security. Oh, however..how do I know that the firewall is working? With most programs I have been notified when my computer is trying to be accessed by intruders, and with any of tthe current programs I'm using - never receive(d) notifications. Thanks! |

Re: Problem receiving Outlook email w/AVG & PC Tools, Windows Def.
Hi Ashley,
Have you tried doing a "System Restore"? This does not mean resetting your machine to the factory defaults! To access System Restore, try this.... Go Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Once in there, select Restore My Computer to an earlier time > Next you will now see a Calendar on the Left hand side with dates that are in bold; select one of these dates back to a time before you accidentally 'fiddled' with the settings...follow the prompts; the computer will reboot, and all should be back to "normal". (hopefully )One important point to note: You will have to update your anti virus database again as it will be 'out of date', due to the move back in time. Give this a try and post back with the results. Kind Regards,
