kernel32.dll
Hello,
I have recently logged onto my computer, and noticed the start-up process was slower than usual. I opened another program and noticed that also went slower than usual. So, I thought I might have some kind of virus or malwar, worm, etc. slowing my computer down, so I ran an AVG Free Edition anti-virus scan (for the whole computer) and found ' kernel32.dll ' in the results list. I searched ' kernel32.dll ' on Google and found some information on it. Most of the information told me that the file was an important part of the Windows OS, that handled memory operations, and that Windows won't work without it. But I also found information that it could be a disguised malware/virus/worm/trojan file simply using the file name ' kernel32.dll '. Someone also mentioned it was part of a virus/malware called 'floodnet virus' and another person mentioned it would slow my computer down, and said to get ' kernel64.dll '. I am writing this post as on previous AVG scans I had'nt detected this file, and I also find 'user32.dll' and 'ntoskrnl.exe' in most of my AVG virus scans. If anyone could reccomend what I should do to resolve if this ' kernel32.dll ' is a possible threat; or simply a normal part of my Windows OS. Please post

Re: kernel32.dll
Hi
Those are files that are amended as part of Microsofts patches and updates. AVG is simply advising you that they have changed since the last scan. Are the files in your System32 folder? If so, then they should be OK.
