Problem with norton internet security

Hi,Any help would be great.Every so often i turn on my pc and instead of NIS 2007 showing in system tray with green tick,It comes on with red cross. So i click on icon to enter the site and there is a cross by the virus protection part,So i click on the left hand side icon,Fix now. After clicking on the fix now link the next screen says that my virus protection is turned off,So i click next to fix the problem but then an error message comes up saying that this cant be carried out as the virus protection is already running in the background,Then i have to restart the com and usually it works fine. The worst thing about this is that my pc is 5 months old and it has only just started to do this,Up until now its been fine and there is nothing ive done to the anti virus software for it to start behaving like this,Any help would be grat,Thank you.

Re: Problem with norton internet security

Hi joniebee

If you leave the system for 5 minutes after startup, does the red cross still show up in the taskbar?

Software needs a fair amount of time to load up and run fully at startup.

Re: Problem with norton internet security

Usually about 1 or 2 minutes after coming on the icon appears,Green and loaded correctly. The fault,is that this process is the same,Then instead of a green tick i get a red cross. My point is that whilst its loading up there is nothing there so there is no reason for the red cross to appear,And in reply to your theory i dont think it is showing the red cross because it is loading,Thanks anyway.

Re: Problem with norton internet security

Hi

What I'm asking is, in the times it appears red, does it never change by itself to green until you restart? (i.e. have you left it for 5 minutes and checked)
