Could you nice people help me smite a virus?
(W32/Sdbot.worm.gen.n) virus has infected my computer, and attached itself to my system restore. McAfee won't clean, quarantine or delete it, as it could cause 'very bad things to happen' to my computer - according to some info I found on-line.
Here's my question! Is anyone aware of a fix which would keep my system restore intact and the rest of my system secure, or will I need to do a full format, and re-install?? Thanks in anticipation. Oh, and as I've just joined and this is my first post, just wanted to say HI to everyone. HI!!

Re: Could you nice people help me smite a virus?
Hi Isotope, welcome to TSF
I don't think you'll be able to keep your system restore points as removing them is usually part of the cleaning process. Please follow the instructions here and then post all the requested logs in a new thread here for the security analysts to look at. The security forum is always busy, so please be patient and you will receive a reply as soon as possible. If you go to Thread Tools > Subscribe at the top of your new thread you will receive an email as soon as a reply is posted.
