hi,
my brother has done a trend micro online scan and it found troj_agent.prx
he has tried to delete the registry entries that it mentions in the solution given by trend, but they are not there.
any ideas??

Hi GG

Such entries are not always present. The file itself may have been picked up somewhere without have been executed. If he can't find the registry entry then that's probably good.

he also had trouble deleting the .dll file that the scan found.
i've told him to try vundofix and add the file to the search.
just waiting to see how he gets on.

Delete the file in Safe Mode.

Also run HijackThis and see if there is an entry

O2 - BHO -----------

That should be fixed with HJT.

If there are still problems, follow the 5 steps and post a log. There may well be other malware present.
