AOL & Proxy

When I get on the computer a message from Norton always pops up telling me that there some sort of Proxy switched on. So it asks me if I want to change the configuration or close the dialogue. I don't know if this is harmful to my computer and want to get rid of it.

Also, AOL LE Starts up every time too and freezes on my computer regardless of the high specs I'm running on. I can't get rid of it! I really don't want it and it's becoming like a bad clingy girlfriend.

PS. Does anyone know what the best progs are available for security? Thanks in advance!

IIRC, AOL uses a proxy server and it is safe

For security I use avast! antivirus and kerio personal firewall, very good and free too!

I installed HideIP Platinum, but got rid of it. Does that have to do with a proxy?

I want to get rid of AOL. I don't want to know if it's safe, but thanks.
