Remove traces of Freedom (fws, freedom.exe); "Windows Installer" issues in Outlook
I used to use Freedom since it came free with my old ISP. Now I don't, but there are still traces of the progrm on my computer. It's no longer in my add/remove programs, all but 1 of the files in its directory are gone (AVCntxtR.dll won't go away!).
Anyways, Freedom is still running around somewhere. Anytime I right-click to do various things in My Computer or on my desktop, the Freedom installer (like Windows Installer) pops up then gives an error and goes away. I've run Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis, Registry Repair, Registry Mechanic, and Security Task Manager and nothing has come up relating to Freedom, Radialpoint, or Zero Knowledge. I'd thought of re-installing the entire thing and re-uninstalling it, but it doesn't seem to be available on the company site anymore and I don't have access to the download since I'm not with my old ISP. So... a) How do I get rid of AVCntxtR.dll? b) How do I remove any other traces of Freedom without knowing where to look? -------------------------------------- My second problem is the Windows Installer. When I try to open e-mails in Outlook, it always asks me to insert my Microsoft Office 2000 disk. Office came on my computer, so I don't have a specific disk for office. None of the disks I have and have tried have whatever it is looking for. The installer cancels and allows me to read the e-mail without a problem. But, having the installer pop up everytime I want to read my e-mail is a P.I.T.A. How can I shut it up? Would it just be easy to re-install outlook with the mfg. disk? Thank you!! |
