best firewall

Can anyone advise me on the firewall issue. I currently use Windows Firewall , I know it only stops stuff getting in to your system but I'm not sure thats adequate. I don't put any of my personal details on my computer but obviously I'd rather it was safe all the same. .
I am security concious, I run AVG Free, Spybot, Adaware SE, Xoftspy 4.22, Windows Defender, Windows Firewall and I also use Mcafee siteadvisor which I think is a very usefull tool as it actually warns you if your browser could be interfered with, so giving you the option to avoid the site altogether.
Like I say any help would be appreciated

Re: best firewall

I have used ZoneAlarm free for years and am happy with that. I stick with an older version which seems to do the job.
I did try Comodo recently, and although all reports give it a high rating, it did odd things to me AV prog (AVG) so it had to go.
Others will have their own opinions, and you must try for yourself and find that which suits.
Industrial strenght jobs such as ZoneAlarmPro are great, but you pay for them and if your surfing is just a trawl round a few well known and trusted sites such as this one, they would probably be a bit of overkill.

Re: best firewall

Microsoft's Firewall does not monitor outgoing traffic - so it's only really half a firewall. I have used ZA for years with no problems and no infections.

Re: best firewall

I didnt like ZoneAlarm when i tried it, so i switched to Comodo and it seems to be working great! I have Antivir and have had AVG with Comodo before and never saw an issue.

Comodo Firewall Pro is ver good, and it's free. I would give it a try.

I have been using Comodo for six months. I highly recommend it. The very few minor glitches I initially had were easily remedied by visiting the FAQ on their forum.

Re: best firewall

Thanks everyone for your time. I'm going to try either Zone Alarm or Comodo. Is disabling Windows firewall just a matter of turning off in the security centre

Re: best firewall

Yes, although many of the third party firewalls (including ZA) will automatically turn it off during the install.
