Re: A Catalogue of Problems...
Hi Guys,
Righto, I fear I have encountered a fairly minor trojan problem that, through my amateur blunderings, has evolved into a full PC meltdown. This is the history: I stupidly had allowed my anti-virus subscription to lapse and hadn't got round to renewing it. So, inevitably I encountered a virus problem. Norton flashed up a number of trojan warnings (I can't remember which ones) as I was accessing a less than reputable mp3 download site which I OKed to delete and I closed my internet browser. Then, just minutes later I found my PC to generate hundreds of messages from Norton that my e-mail virus scanner wouldn't work. So, i disabled the e-mail scanner and solved that problem but then found that i couldn't access the internet anymore and all my live updates were trying to access the web using my old dial up. So, I created a restore point from the previous day and successfuly restored. However, I still can't access the internet (it seems to want to use dial up rather than my braodband again) but there don't seem to be any other problems. What should I do? Thanks, Matt |
