Port Access attempt question

Hi, my dad has a Dell computer running windows XP. When he signs into AOL through dialup he keeps getting messages from his firewall that it blocked an attempt to acess several of the ports. It shows that its coming from several different IP addresses and trying to access 3 or 4 different ports. The AOL security suite picks up nothing (virus or spyware) and ad-aware didn't pick up anything. Im going to bring his cpu to my house since I have cable connection and his dialup is too slow for an online scan. Any suggestions for what I should use to run any scans and fix this problem?

Thanks, Rollj

This is normal and is why you need a firewall.

That shows the firewall is doing its job.

I don't think you have a problem unless there are any other symptoms such as running very slowly.

I get about 10 attacks a minute on my machine according to my event log, but I've got my notification disabled, so I don't see them. If you are really worried that you might be infected, click the highlighted link and follow the steps shown.
