I have been fighting this since last night when I decided to do a Trend Micro Housecall scan. I have 2 computers in the house hardwired through a router/modem AIO. When I did the scan this turned up, trend got rid of it, did the second scan, free & clear. I checked the second computer & the same thing. This am (early), I don't know what made me think to do it but I checked again through Trend & the same thing popped up on both machines, went through the get rid process again, second scan, free & clear. Now in between that scan & the next scan I did, I ran Symantec online, Mcafee Site Advisor, Windows Live Safety Centre, System Suite 6 anti-virus/anti spyware, AVG Free, ClamWin Free & in safe mode ran Trend Micro SysClean package, none of them turned this up. I went back & did another housecall & yes it was back, went through the get rid, second scan again clear. Since that I have done yet another & yes it came back. Square one & losing, so I do need help. Btw ihe ClamWin I just installed this evening.
Edit: I just wanted to mention that I did check out the thread titles here & didn't catch any with this mentioned. I also have just over a years computer knowledge also. Last edited by sharkie; 01-21-2007 at 12:04 AM. Reason: Addition |

Hi and welcome to TSF.
Not all AVs or scanners will catch everything, so I suggest you follow these instructions. Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there is any spyware/malware on your computer.
We'll then have a look and provide instructions to clean your system, if required. Please note that the HJT forum is constantly busy, so I would ask that you be patient while waiting for a reply.

Used to love oor willie & the broons as a kid growing up on the other coast. I already have HiJack this installed, so I will follow your instructions. BTW, you can add a-square anti-dialer, a-square hijack free, a-square free edition & a-square 30 day trial version to the list that don't pick it up. Appreciate the reply.
Love Haggis but don't get it a lot anymore, Scot's wha hae. |

Re: How to remove DIALER_PornDial
First of all Hello to everybody! I to had the problem with DIALER_PornDial Everything I tried was to no advail, I even tried add and delete programs, but it was not there. It got so that when I ranTrend-Micro house calls it would freeze up. Then tried Trend Micro spyware and it found it each time, just to reinstall again on next start up. So clicked the + next to what it found. HKLM\Software\vom\ came up. I have Fix it utilities 6 by vcom installed allready, I think the restoration (maybey had it stored?) might have had something to do with it so I deleted the program from add and delete pro. Then ran spyware scan from Trend... on safe mode and then on Reg. mode. and deleted both ways then ran it again and the next thing that came up was cookie_BurstNet cleared that also. Now today I ran housecall and the spyware and nothing of the sort has shown up. Dont know how it happened for sure but Im sure some of you can make more since out of it then I, for this is all new to me . Im just glad its gone. Please care to elaborate, for maybey this will help others. And (Myself).
